A Bear in my Backyard

Although bears are a normal part of life in BC, it's not often you see one in your neighborhood! Recently we have heard of a bear that was investigating our house while we were on our honeymoon, and have recently gotten notice of a bear in the area and today he decided to take a walk down our lane!

Walking down our sidewalk...

Checking out the neighbours house

He then continued up the lane for a few more blocks before going out of sight.

We were excited to move out here where we are closer to nature, but now nature seems to be coming to us!

Basement Reno: Painting!

Our biggest project when we bought our house was to make a suite in the basement...which at the time looked like this:

Well since then ceilings and walls have gone up, plumbing and electricity has gone in...and Painting has begun!
This is what it looks like today:

This will be the bedroom.

Getting ready to paint the last wall in the living room

The Bathroom...still needs paint.

This WILL be our Cheery Yellow Kitchen.

Anyone good at laying floors going to be around in about 2 weeks?

Mini-Room Makeover!

The curtains in the master bedroom have been driving me crazy forever because they are very light and there is a street light right outside so it's hard for me to fall asleep. So we have been throwing blankets over the windows which has been a great temp fix but we decided to use some of the gift cards from the wedding to finally get some that block the light better. While we were there we also got new bedding, so now it feels like a whole new room!

A Day with Mr. D.

So, its been a while since I have blogged about normal things in life. Yesterday I babysat D and we had blast! Here are just highlights of our day!
I love living in a neighbourhood that really caters to young children. We have a tot park with a small spray park at the end of the street that D had a ball at!

He liked looking at the spray park a bit more then he liked getting wet!

He LOVED the playground truck!

Every Boy likes a Motorcycle!

At Our house he liked to play with the wooden train Paul's grandfather had made for him when he was small.

D had a blast trying to walk Scamper when Paul's Parents dropped by to pick some stuff up.

In the afternoon we went to Whonnock Lake Park to enjoy the summer weather.

On the way home, D insisted on giving every tree a hug and a kiss before we could go to the car.

Honeymoon Adventure Number 9: A final day in Miami

Our last day was bittersweet. It was sad leaving our boat behind, packing up to get ready to go home and face real life. At the same time I was excited to go home and figure out life as a married couple. We booked one last excursion in Miami after getting of the boat to go to......

 THE EVERGLADES

The Airboats were supre fun!

Alligator just swimming in the water, no biggy.

The first alligator we saw in the glades, also the biggest, the rest that we saw were about 1-3 years old and very small.

The everglades are full of these little islands where the native peoples used to live...along with the alligators, deer, and even brown bears.

One of the smaller alligators we saw

Paul holding a baby alligator

This crocodile was pretty lazy....

It was a great day out in the everglades! From there we headed straight to the airport to come back to Canada!
